Our driver/ guide will meet you in Kigali. Get briefed about the tour. Go on a Kigali City Tour; Visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial, Caplaki Crafts and a local market. Have Lunch in Kigali. The guide will then drive you to the Volcanoes National Park in Northern Rwanda. You will arrive at the foothills of the park in the evening. Relax at the lodge as you wait for dinner. Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Bwindi
After breakfast, the guide will transfer you to the park headquarters (with some snacks and water) for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking. Led by the park rangers, go on a trek through the forest to search for the mountain gorillas. The time taken while searching for the humble giant apes is unpredictable however; it ranges between 2-5 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas. The activity involves climbing up and sloping down making it tiresome but the thrill of encountering gorillas erases the poor memories you obtained while looking for them. Meet Gorillas and watch them in the wild for a maximum of one hour – take photos, films. You will find the guide at the starting point of the trek.
You will have lunch at the lodge and later cross the border via the Cyanika border. The journey takes you through the scenic countryside characterized by the Virunga Volcanoes. After the border crossing, continue to the south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Dinner and overnight at Chameleon Hill Lodge.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest
Early breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, the guide will drive you the trailhead of Rushaga in Southern Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. We will go with some packed lunch. Go for a briefing about the ‘Dos’ and ‘Don’ts’ of the gorilla trekking session you are to take.
Guided by park rangers, you will start the hike into the forest to start the search for the mountain gorillas. Gorilla Tracking involves walking up steep and densely forested hills before finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in their vegetation. Upon meeting the great apes, you will stay with these giant apes for 1 hour for observation and photography. After the gorilla trek, relax at the lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, drive to the nearby Lake Mutanda. We can take a simple tour of this beautiful lake, listen to some local stories about the lake. Depart for Kigali to catch a flight back home.
