Main Info
Gorillas in the Mist – We will take you with us to enjoy, to see, and to experience the overwhelming views inside the rain forest at the foot of the well-known Virunga range. Trekking one of the twelve habituated gorilla groups is the highlight of our three day tour to northern Rwanda. Through embarking on a safari with us, you actively support the region’s development. This is through the fact, that we promote local products and support local projects. This reaches from locally woven textiles for our guides’ uniform to the fact, that we prefer locally owned lodges and camps over international hotel chains. The local community is another focus of our tour. When going on this trip, you are given the chance to really experience the culture and way of life of the Banyarwanda during community activities such as dances and plays and also during one of guided community walks.
Trip Itinerary: 3 Days, 2 Nights
Day 1: After your arrival at Kanombe Airport in Kigali, we will take you directly to your hotel close to the Virunga Volcano Massif, Parc National des Volcanoes. If you arrive in Rwanda in the evening, we will instead have to add a night in Kigali and use the evening to explore some of the local cuisine and modern culture.
Day 2: Very early, we set off from our lodge to go and trek the critically endangered mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking is a whole day experience and tiresome in the hilly and dense rain forest. However, it is also an amazing experience to see the great apes in the bushes and share time with their family. Parc National de Volcanos is home to seven habituated and more wild gorilla families. After your return from the forest, we will get some rest at the lodge and maybe choose to take a walk in the village or relax and share today’s experiences during a massage.
Day 3: We drive back to Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city, to get back to Kanombe International Airport for your flight back home! If you are not traveling home yet, we drop you at your location of choice in Kigali for you to launch your next adventure in East Africa.
