Trip Itinerary
Day 0: Evening: Arrival Check Inn at the Hotel des Mille Collines
Day 1: Pickup from Kigali
After the trek, travel to the Nyungwe National Park following the shores of the beautiful Lake Kivu. During the trip, stop for Lunch at Butare and you can also have a stop over at the Museum for a cultural tour. Dinner and Overnight at Emeraude Kivu Resort / Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Deluxe) / One and Only Gorilla Nest Lodge
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking
After breakfast, the guide will drive you to Nyungwe Forest National Park briefing point. Go on a guided walk within the Nyungwe forest, that is home to not only chimpanzees but also other 12 primate species. The hike is amazing with sightings of unique flora and fauna within the forest. After the trek, you will have lunch. In the afternoon, take a canopy walk tour to see a variety of attraction and birds up close within the forest. Return to the lodge and relax. Day 3; Travel to Lake Kivu
After breakfast, travel to Lake Kivu, one of the most beautiful places in western Rwanda. Arrive in time for lunch after which you will take a launch cruise on the lake. This will give you spectacular views of the area. Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel (Midrange)
Day 4: Travel to the Volcanoes National Park
The guide will then drive you to the Volcanoes National Park in Northern Rwanda. You will arrive at the foothills of the park in the evening. Relax at the lodge as you wait for dinner. Overnight at Virunga Inn Resort (Luxury).
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, the guide will transfer you to the park headquarters (with some snacks and water) for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking. Led by the park rangers, go on a trek through the forest to search for the mountain gorillas. The time taken while searching for the humble giant apes is unpredictable however; it ranges between 2-5 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas. Upon meeting the mountain gorillas, you have one hour to watch them in the wild – take photos, films. You will find the guide at the starting point of the trek. You will have lunch at the lodge. Relax all Evening. Dinner and Overnight at Virunga Inn Resort
Day 6: Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes National Park
Breakfast. Report to park entrance. Reception include tea or coffee accompanied by cultural music and entertainment. Start trekking the Volcanoes looking for the golden monkeys in what is considered by many to be the most breathtaking wildlife experience in Africa.
Afternoon: Departure or relaxation
Spend the night at the Five Volcanoes Hotel
Day 7: Travel Back to Kigali
Breakfast. Visit the Dianne Fossey Gorilla Fund for a behind the scenes look at conservation. Depart for Kigali City. Have Lunch in Kigali. You can do a brief Kigali city tour or even go shoppinf for souvenir at the local market or shopping mall. Drop off at the hotel or Kigali Airport.
